    AEA Call for Awards Nominations

DEADLINE EXTENDED: Friday, June 12, 2020

Nominations are now being accepted for the eight American Evaluation Association awards (listed below). Please take this opportunity to acknowledge outstanding colleagues and outstanding work. Through identifying those who exemplify the very best in the field, we honor the practitioner and advance the discipline.

Aside from the Robert Ingle Service Award, all awards are open to non-AEA members as a way to recognize contributions to the field. It is imperative that the submitted nomination package demonstrates how the nominee meets the criteria for the awards for which they are being nominated. Self-nominations are accepted but should also be supported by a recommendation from an AEA member.

AEA award recipients will be recognized at Evaluation 2020, to be held October 26-31, 2020, in Portland, OR during the Awards Presentation Ceremony. Each winner will receive a complimentary year of membership to the American Evaluation Association.

All nominations must be completed and received in the AEA office at awards@eval.org  by the deadline, Friday June 12, 2020 in order to be considered.

    Call for Applications

AEA Graduate Education Diversity Internship (GEDI)

Deadline Extended: Wednesday, April 29, 2020

The American Evaluation Association welcomes applications for its Graduate Education Diversity Internship (GEDI) Program that provides paid internship and training opportunities during the academic year. The GEDI program works to engage and support students from groups traditionally under-represented in the field of evaluation. The goals of the GEDI Program are to:

    • Expand the pool of graduate students of color and from other under-represented groups who have extended their research capacities to evaluation
    • Stimulate evaluation thinking concerning under-represented communities and culturally responsive evaluation
    • Deepen the evaluation profession's capacity to work in racially, ethnically and culturally diverse settings

    Submit Application

Interns work the equivalent of approximately two days per week at an internship site near their home institutions from approximately September 1 to July 1. The interns may work on a single evaluation project or multiple projects at the site, but all internship work is focused on building skills and confidence in real-world evaluation practices. Interns receive a stipend of $10,000 in recognition of their internship work based on completion of the internship and satisfactory finalization of program requirements, including any deliverables due to the host agency, progress reports, and reflections on the internship experience.

To learn more about program eligibility and components, click here. All materials must be received by Zachary Grays at the AEA offices on or before Wednesday, April 29, 2020. Successful scholars accepted to the GEDI program are required to attend orientation/fall seminar virtually in mid-August to be continued in-person in late September.

Questions: We recommend beginning by reviewing our Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) page. Should you have further questions about the program, email gedi@eval.org

Go to the GEDI homepage to learn more about the program

We're looking for a local evaluator to help with quantitative (number of families fed, pounds of produce shared, etc.) and qualitative (Community feed back, best practices learned from community-based garden network, etc.).

    Howdy Everyone!

My name is Gerardo Rodríguez, the board treasurer for ¡Milwaukee Evaluation!, Inc.

Thank you all so much for your continued collaboration in bringing forth revolutionary change to celebrate social justice through evaluation and increase the number of people of color practicing evaluation. Through your hard work, the field has achieved many great accomplishments over the years.

We rely on membership dues to continue social justice and evaluation organizing and providing the field with much needed and relevant resources and events. For the first time since instituting dues in 2014 we are increasing our member rates. We are doing more than we ever have and your membership dues help keep the lights on and seed key projects.

Starting on February 1st, 2020, we are raising the membership rate to:
    • Students/Non-college Enrolled Young Adults = $25
    • Organizations = $125
    • Practitoners = $35
These rates are comparable with other AEA affiliates in the midwest.
On behalf of ¡Milwaukee Evaluation!, Inc., I want to thank you all for collaborating with us to change how evaluation is done here in Wisconsin! If you have any questions, feel free to contact me. You can still enjoy the lower membership rates if you renew or join this week or before 2/1/2020.

    Warmly,

    Gerardo Rodríguez

    Treasurer, ¡Milwaukee Evaluation!, Inc.
