I am working on a fatherhood needs assessment project with UW Extension, and we’re looking for a creative design partner who has graphic design and data visualization skills to help us with creating versions of our results that people actually want to read and use. If you have these skills and are interested, please contact me at jenna.klink@wisc.edu . Seeing 1-2 of your prior project examples would be helpful.

This project started when we made it a priority to talk to fathers, since most of our parenting programs have mainly mothers participating, and we want that to change going forward. We’ve talked with fathers in six different focus groups and with organizations who serve fathers in a dozen interviews, and analyzed all of this in data jam format. Our team is super committed to this project and so excited to make our findings widely available and used, beyond just our own organization.

Our budget is about $3,800. Stating that up front so that you can assess whether one or more of our requests would be doable, and if you’re interested in discussing more. We are open to the fact that we may not be able to get all of these things done for that budget, or that we may need to err on the leaner side (5 short documents vs 10, for example, in the 1st bullet below).

    Desired Products:

    • Creating 5-10 short and sweet documents that highlight key findings and recommendations from the needs assessment, for example one targeted for schools, another targeted for those working in the ‘justice’ system, etc.
    • Developing appropriate and accessible data visualization (infographics, graphic design)based on the report findings
    • Formatting the final report (long version) on the needs assessment, this doesn’t need to beas pretty because it will likely get used much less than the 5-10 documents above
    • Creating slides for our outreach dissemination that are visually appealing and include key concepts from above products
    • Editing our final report and shorter documents targeted to specific audiences - helping us get main points across, recommending what to keep/cut, using plain language

Also needed but not sure if this is in your wheelhouse or if we have enough budget

    • Editing our final report and shorter documents targeted to specific audiences - helping us get main points across, recommending what to keep/cut, using plain language

The African American Roundtable (AART) is launching two paid* 6-week entry-level Leadership Development Cohorts, with this being the first cohort. This cohort will provide fellows with basic organizing skills, political education to help develop and/or deepen their analysis to the different civic engagement entry points, and skills needed to advocate for a progressive agenda that leads to a LiberateMKE. This cohort is a Black only space.

Requirements include: Cohort fellows will be required to engage in a total 6 hours of work: Three (3) hours in virtual training spaces** and three (3) hours outside our virtual training spaces working on community related issues while applying learned skills. Fellows will be required to complete a final evaluation prior to officially completing the cohort.

Applications details: Applications are due by 11:59 p.m. on May 6th, 2021 and will be reviewed based on the answers provided in the application. We will accept 15 fellows and notify them on May 11th, 2021 on their acceptance. Their first class will be held on Thursday, May 20th, 2021.

Sessions will either be held Thursdays from 11am-1pm or 6pm-8pm, we will finalize the times based on the response we receive in the application. Since this is our first cohort we wanted to give applicants a voice in selecting the times. Our hope is this will help us best meet the needs of participants.

*Upon successful completion of the Leadership Development Cohort, participants may be eligible to receive a $1000 participation bonus.

**Due to the concerns of the COVID-19 Pandemic, we will begin these workshops via Zoom until it is safe to resume our normal activities.

AEA Graduate Education Diversity Internship (GEDI)

    Deadline: Monday, May 3, 2021

The American Evaluation Association welcomes applications for its Graduate Education Diversity Internship (GEDI) Program that provides paid internship and training opportunities during the academic year. The GEDI program works to engage and support students from groups traditionally under-represented in the field of evaluation. The goals of the GEDI Program are to:

    • Expand the pool of graduate students of color and from other under-represented groups who have extended their research capacities to evaluation
    • Stimulate evaluation thinking concerning under-represented communities and culturally responsive evaluation
    • Deepen the evaluation profession's capacity to work in racially, ethnically, culturally, and linguistically diverse settings

    Submit Application

Interns work the equivalent of approximately two days per week at an internship site, usually near their home institutions from approximately September 1 to July 1. The interns may work on a single evaluation project or multiple projects at the site, but all internship work is focused on building skills and confidence in real-world evaluation practices. Interns receive a stipend of $12,000 in recognition of their internship work based on completion of the internship and satisfactory finalization of program requirements, including any deliverables due to the host agency, progress reports, and reflections on the internship experience.

To learn more about program eligibility and components, click here. All materials must be received by Zachary Grays at the AEA offices on or before Monday, May 3, 2021. Successful scholars accepted to the GEDI program are required to attend orientation/fall seminar virtually in mid-August with plans to be continued in-person in late September.

    Prospective Scholar Webinar (Recording)

Have questions about being a GEDI intern? Join GEDI Program Leadership as they discuss the GEDI program experience from the scholar perspective and answer your questions. This is an excellent opportunity to get an inside perspective on what it is like to be a scholar and the expectations.
