AART Leadership Development Cohort

The African American Roundtable (AART) is launching two paid* 6-week entry-level Leadership Development Cohorts, with this being the first cohort. This cohort will provide fellows with basic organizing skills, political education to help develop and/or deepen their analysis to the different civic engagement entry points, and skills needed to advocate for a progressive agenda that leads to a LiberateMKE. This cohort is a Black only space.

Requirements include: Cohort fellows will be required to engage in a total 6 hours of work: Three (3) hours in virtual training spaces** and three (3) hours outside our virtual training spaces working on community related issues while applying learned skills. Fellows will be required to complete a final evaluation prior to officially completing the cohort.

Applications details: Applications are due by 11:59 p.m. on May 6th, 2021 and will be reviewed based on the answers provided in the application. We will accept 15 fellows and notify them on May 11th, 2021 on their acceptance. Their first class will be held on Thursday, May 20th, 2021.

Sessions will either be held Thursdays from 11am-1pm or 6pm-8pm, we will finalize the times based on the response we receive in the application. Since this is our first cohort we wanted to give applicants a voice in selecting the times. Our hope is this will help us best meet the needs of participants.

*Upon successful completion of the Leadership Development Cohort, participants may be eligible to receive a $1000 participation bonus.

**Due to the concerns of the COVID-19 Pandemic, we will begin these workshops via Zoom until it is safe to resume our normal activities.
